Janesville – Dennis L. Strandlie, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.  He was born on August 31, 1940 in Janesville, the son of Leif Strandlie and Mildred (Heise) Strandlie.  Dennis graduated from Janesville High School in 1959 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp.  When he returned home, he worked for several local manufacturing companies including Monterey Mills in facility maintenance before pursuing his lifelong interest in law enforcement. He worked as a deputy in the Rock County Sheriff’s department for many years. After retiring, he worked for Dean Health Care for some time before retiring for good.  Among his interests, Dennis enjoyed golfing, old west re-enactment, and country music. He was a member of the Moose Club.

Dennis is survived by aunts Marilyn (Sherman) Heise and Ruth (Stanley) Heise (Florida); uncle Carroll Everson (Texas); niece Julie Strandlie (Jerome Lemens), great-niece Carolyn Strandlie Lemens, and great-nephew Nicholas Strandlie Lemens (Virginia); sister-in-law Jean (Richard) Strandlie (Virginia); and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Strandlie, in 2001.

Henke-Clarson Funeral Home will host a memorial service on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.  Memorials may be given to Everytown for Gun Safety or the Wisconsin Equal Justice Fund, Inc.
